Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what data Aveliq collects, why we collect it, and how we protect it. We keep it simple and honest.

1. Who We Are

Aveliq is an AI-powered study platform built and operated by George Erubami (GeoCode), based in Ibadan, Nigeria. We help Nigerian students prepare for WAEC, JAMB, NECO, and Post-UTME examinations.

2. What Data We Collect

We collect only what we need to run Aveliq effectively:

Account information — your name, email address, and profile photo when you sign in with Google or create an account.
Study activity — your study streaks, session counts, quiz results, and achievements. This is stored to personalize your experience.
Content you submit — notes, photos, PDFs, and YouTube links you submit for AI processing. These are sent to our backend and AI providers to generate your results. We do not permanently store the content of your notes.
Device information — browser type, device type, and general location (country/region) for analytics and abuse prevention.
Cookies and local storage — small files stored in your browser to remember your preferences, theme, streak data, and saved notes. See our Cookie Policy for details.

3. How We Use Your Data

To generate AI summaries, quizzes, and study plans from your notes
To save and sync your study progress across devices when signed in
To display your streak, achievements, and leaderboard position
To send study reminders if you have enabled them
To improve Aveliq — understanding which features are used and fixing bugs
To detect and prevent abuse of our AI services

We do not sell your data to anyone. Ever.

4. AI Processing & Third-Party Providers

When you submit notes or ask questions, your content is sent to third-party AI providers to generate responses. These providers include:

Cerebras AI
Groq
OpenRouter (which may route to models including Gemini, Llama, Mistral, and others)
Google Gemini
Mistral AI

Your content is processed by these providers under their own privacy policies. We do not share your personal account information with these providers — only the text content needed to generate your results.

We also use:

Firebase (Google) — for authentication and cloud data storage
OCR.space — for extracting text from photos and PDFs
EmailJS — for sending bug reports

5. Data Storage & Security

Your account data is stored in Google Firebase Firestore, which uses industry-standard encryption. Your local study data (saved notes, streak, preferences) is stored in your browser's localStorage and is only accessible on your device.

We take reasonable steps to protect your data, but no system is 100% secure. Do not submit sensitive personal information (such as bank details, passwords, or national ID numbers) through Aveliq.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access — request a copy of your data
Delete — request deletion of your account and associated data
Correct — update your name or email through your profile
Opt out — stop using Aveliq at any time; your local data can be cleared from your browser settings

7. Children's Privacy

Aveliq is designed for students of all ages, including those under 18. We do not knowingly collect more data than necessary from any user. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Aveliq after changes means you accept the updated policy.
